Johnson Brothers Platters

Johnson Brothers Platters and its other fine dinnerware started way back in 1800s. In Staffordshire area in England, the Charles Street Works factory started an earthenware craft where in 1880s ended up in bankruptcy. The following year, the Johnson Brothers namely Alfred, Fredrick and Henry Johnson acquired it in a sale during 1882. They are the Grandsons of the famous Meakin dinnerware lineage, the brothers started a new heritage in the production of dinnerware.

They first venture went good. They became popular with their creation of the basic whiteware known as “semi-porcelain material”. Because of its design and durability, the business boomed and that their fourth brother namely Robert relocated to United States in 1900. Johnson Brothers became very popular in America because of its inexpensive and durable product.

The company introduced wares that when chipped reveals an underlayer that has the same color with the outer glazed body. That has just added to the company’s plus factor when it comes to quality of their dishes. Moreover, their designs are award winning such as the Old Britain Castles and Historic America.
